To apply for position in the lab, the standard procedure is:

1. An initial contact by e-mail to describe your interests and motivations
2. To send recommendation letters (from your supervisor or someone that worked with you and at least one outsider who knows you personally and scientifically)
3. To come and spend a couple of days with us in Paris (travel and hotel would be reimbursed) where you would give a seminar and exchange ideas with lab members. This could enable us to decide what type of project might be worked on together.

Funding fellowships

Regarding fellowships, most people in the lab have their independent funding. This is good for their independence , their careers, and for the lab’s finances. Most post-docs in our lab are funded by a variety of grants including EMBO, Marie Curie, Human Frontier, French or bilateral fellowships from INSERM or from charities such as FRM, ARC or Ligue Contre Le Cancer. PhD students may have either French or European Fellowships. The international fundings are often the most generous so, take care to give good publications and good recommendation. Maybe you you should have a look at the application deadlines before you decide when to visit us. For most fellowships there is a call for proposals once or twice a year (see sites below).

PhD students / post-docs

All cells are equal but some are more equal than others?

We are looking to enlarge our interdisciplinary group where Molecular Biology, Evolution,  Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science and Mathematics are combined to study the causes and consequences of natural patterns of phenotypic variability, aging and death at the single-cell level within bacterial lineages. To this end, we unite powerful bacterial genetics together with microfluidics, time-lapse microscopy, image analysis and modelling to tackle these fundamental questions relevant to all living systems.

Requirements: M.Sc. or equivalent (For PhD)

Contact: Dr. Francois Taddei, francois.taddei@inserm.fr with “Position” as e-mail title.

The positions are funded by the the EURYI award, the  HFSP Young Investigator and the French National Research Agency (ANR) Systems Biology Grants
